Do you dread going to the dentist for a root canal procedure? Dr. Goldberg and his staff can make this routine endodontic treatment a relatively simple and pain-free process. At Howell Dental Associates, we care about our patients and know that not everyone is comfortable with going to the dentist. So when it comes to a root canal procedure, Dr. Goldberg and our dedicated staff make every attempt to put patients’ minds at ease. We use the latest innovations in pain-free dentistry and educate patients about each step of the procedure they are about to undergo with the help of our CAESY educational DVD series and Dr. Goldberg’s expertise.

What Is A Root Canal Procedure?
Root canal is typically needed when the nerve of the tooth or “pulp chamber” has become infected, either by tooth decay extending into the pulp chamber or from previous trauma to a tooth from prior drilling or grinding. This can result in “pulpitis” or inflammation of the nerve. If the pulpitis is irreversible, the necessary procedure is a root canal in which the nerve is removed from within the tooth. Prior to root canal, the patient is fully anesthetized so that he or she does not feel anything during the entire procedure. Typically, root canal procedures can be completed in 1 or 2 visits. After a root canal is completed, the tooth needs to be restored with a post and core buildup and a crown. Root canal procedures have the reputation of being very painful; however the discomfort experienced in the period leading up to the treatment is truly the painful part, not the root canal procedure itself. If you think you may need a root canal procedure, come to Howell Dental Associates for a consultation. New patients are always welcome. Call us today at (732) 363-5115.
